Dance music icon JOHN DIGWEED makes a return to Shine to headline the 17th Birthday celebrations at QUBSU. John is widely recognised as one of the greatest exponents of his profession. His name easily ranks alongside the world's all time greatest Djs, having consistently made an appearance in Mixmag's Top 10 djs over the last 10 years. In addition, he's a broadcaster, a producer & a promoter and active A&R Executive for his own Bedrock imprint. Radio 1's latest 'In New DJ's We Trust' recruit and underground pin-up JULIO BASHMORE is one of the hottest talents coming out of the UK. 2011 was the breakthrough year for the young producer and DJ. Laying down his first "Essential Mix" for the BBC and releasing arguable the biggest tune of the year with “Battle For Middle You”. These provided the stepping stones for his biggest year to date, headlining the biggest festivals and clubs in the world whilst holding down a slot on Radio 1.

When Digweed began DJ-ing in nightclubs, some 26 years ago, kids in the suburbs could only access house music on illegal rave tapes, or through recordings of U.S. radio stations like New York's Kiss FM. A pal introduced John to both and, immediately smitten, he set about getting equipment, and chasing down import copies of the records he'd heard. He split his time between working - firstly as a part-time gardener, later as a full-time bar manager - going to clubs in London, and DJing locally. Predictably, he found getting gigs hard, so he set up his own night, Bedrock, and invited his favourite DJs to play. All these years later, Bedrock events take place worldwide, and it has spawned a firmly established record label of the same name. His legendary sets alongside Sasha continue to rock sold out clubs from North America to Japan, his style continually evolving to embrace new, exciting and progressive music - Digweed remains as credible and relevant as ever.
